UPS Reporter displays several types of status information using bar charts and text. This information is useful for monitoring UPS activity. For example, you can use status information to monitor the battery capacity.
To view the status information
Click "Restart the UPS Reporter" to force the UPS monitoring software to restart. If an error occurs, ensure that the UPS is connected to serial port E on the NetWinder and that it is powered on.
UPS Reporter status information includes three bar charts. You can choose the type of information displayed by these charts (for example, battery capacity, battery voltage, and utility voltage). For each chart, "safe" zones appear in the color "green" and "alert" zones appear in the color "red". For example, if a battery is running low on power, the bar for the battery capacity chart may appear in the "red" zone. You should charge or replace the battery.
You can change the information shown in any of the bar charts. The following types of information are available:
| Battery capacity | This provides a measure of the charge remaining in the battery. The value is expressed as a percentage of the total charge. |
| Battery voltage | This provides a measure of the charge remaining in the battery. The value is expressed in units of volts DC. |
| Output voltage | This provides a measure of the power provided to the NetWinder by the UPS. The value is expressed in volts AC. |
| Run time remaining | This provides a measure of the time that the UPS can continue to power the NetWinder, based on the current load. The time is expressed in units of minutes. |
| UPS load | This provides a measure of the power load on the UPS. The value is expressed as a percentage of the total power load. |
| Utility voltage | This provides a measure of the power provided by the AC outlet the UPS is plugged in to. The value is expressed in volts AC. |

The UPS status information includes several types of textual information. The information on the left side of the page is related to the UPS hardware, such as its model and voltage specifications. As well, you can view the UPS status (that is, whether it is online, offline, using battery power, or boosting). For information about your UPS hardware, see the documentation provided with the device.
Information in the panel at the bottom of the page displays the recent events related to UPS activity. For example, if a power failure occurs, its date and time appears in this panel, along with the text message "Power failure".
