Overview
Logfile Display is a plug-in for NetWinder OfficeServer 2.0. This plug-in
lets you (as the administrator) view log files while working in a browser
with NetWinder OfficeServer. Without this plug-in, you can view log files
using telnet. However, Logfile Display provides a more convenient method
of viewing the log files.
Note: Logfile Display is available only for NetWinder OfficeServer
2.0. Earlier versions of NetWinder OfficeServer don't support this plug-in.
What Information is Available?
Logfile Display shows the NetWinder OfficeServer log files that are maintained
by the syslog service and stored in the "/var/log/" directory. For example,
NetWinder OfficeServer's ftp server logs information about user connections
in "/var/log/messages". Using Logfile Display, you can access this information
by viewing the contents of the General System log and in the Security log.
Logfile Display also shows log files for third-party software applications
that are maintained by the syslog service and stored in the "/var/log/"
directory. For information about the common log files that are listed in
Logfile Display, see Viewing the List of
Log Files.
Logfile Display ignores files in the "/var/log/" directory that aren't
maintained by the syslog service. For this reason, log files for NetWinder
OfficeServer's web server don't appear in Logfile Display. Similarly, not
all log files for NetWinder OfficeServer's ftp server appear in Logfile
Display. Specifically, information about which files were transferred using
the ftp server doesn't appear.
